Senior Technical Engineer (Observability) – 220001LC

Job Purpose:
To Design & Support IT solutions for the EK Group. Working as part of a Design & Support team, the Senior Technical Engineer will design, develop, support, and deliver robust and cost-effective solutions for both Business and IT-led initiatives, including solution development and cost estimations, configuration and deployment, Business Case Development & Approval. Adding to that, the position requires you to support, contribute and ensure solution compliance to the enterprise architecture, production processes, QMS, and other EG-IT standards. Also, to support, contribute and ensure the development of the roadmap of the concerned technology roadmap aligning with IT strategy.
Job Accountability:
– Provide expert technical consultancy and guidance to EG-IT dealing within the technology area and act as lead technical member in the Project team delivering the work packages assigned.
– Develop IT Solutions that meet customer requirements. Ensure that the design is robust, appropriate, and of high quality and conforming to corporate standards and in line with the technical strategy.
– Ensure that the developed architecture/solution meets the service level requirements in terms of expected availability, capacity, continuity, security, performance, and reliability. – Foster the development of high-performing technical teams to meet strategic architectural objectives.
– Develop Solution architectures for assigned projects with established EA standards, and also support in the development of technology advancements and adaptation of new technologies.
– Collaborate with other IT Technology Teams to implement ongoing monitoring of the relevant technology to ensure severity 1 & 2 Incidents are configured within EMS.
– Provide guidance to Project managers / Technology Team Managers for solution definition, technical design, and development of in-house developed solutions. These are to be delivered as per agreed costs and timescales to meet signed-off functional, technical, and process requirements.
– Ensure that assigned incidents are resolved within the agreed Service Levels, and problems are defined and analyzed in line with the Problem Management Process.
– Ensure that solutions to problems meet the architectural and security standards within the technology area and impact on the business is minimized.
– Own & manage changes within the Technology Area.
– Publish and maintain high-quality documentation for the technology area, whilst working within the standard templates and documentation guidelines that include detailed design, configuration details, support procedures, operations manuals, and deployment architecture.
– Manage “End of Life” replacement of equipment and/or software within the technology area to ensure conformance to technical standards and support the Technology initiatives and directions.
– Ensure the process and Enhancement specifications are translated into effective programs with error-free code using the enterprise development tools, methods, and languages.

ITIL and AGILE Frameworks
– Deep understanding of Metrics, Logs, and Traces and their influence over application health and performance.
– Ability to design and orchestrate complex Observability requirements spanned across on-prem, AWS, and Azure using cloud-native services and specialized Observability tools like Splunk & AppDynamics.
– Hands-on experience with Observability & Enterprise Service health and performance monitoring with Splunk IT Service Intelligence & AppDynamics.
– Exceptional knowledge in systems monitoring, alerting, and analytics (using AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK, Grafana, etc.)
– Ability to tell stories with business and application performance data using query tools like Splunk SPLs, and PL/SQL, along with data visualization frameworks, by creating insightful dashboards.
– Experience with implementing Service Operations tooling, particularly in the domain of service monitoring and process automation.
– Deep scripting skills in Shell (Bash), Python, and Go (Golang).
– Deep understanding of container management solutions – Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift, EKS, and AKS.
– Essential Public cloud services: AWS Lambda, Cloudwatch, Kinesis, and Azure Monitor.

GCP Data Engineer (Specialist) – 2200028W
Job Purpose
Develop and optimize the data infrastructure and frameworks behind the customer-centric marketing business. Make improvements to the marketing data lifecycle, from the way data is extracted and prepared to the way analysis and segmentation are performed and presented through to data distribution and activation in marketing channels. Map out and develop the data ingestion, integration, and distribution processes from various internal and external sources, streamlining the information for the use of the marketing teams.

Job Outline:

– Responsible for designing, managing, and governing the data model, ETL flows, and catalog. Work closely with the Customer Insights Analysts to understand their requirements and ensure data is sourced, structured, and available for use.
– Understand structured and unstructured data in order to identify, cleanse, map, and combine data and data sets from multiple sources in preparation for the Customer Insights team. Ensure the data format is ready for use in segmentation, insights extraction, and other marketing applications.
– Ensure data is integrated, centralized, and maintained in a Marketing Data Platform so that there is a single source of truth from which all insights activities can be obtained.
– Remain at the forefront of and drive continuous improvements in extraction, aggregation, testing, and analysis of terabytes of customer data. Map out and develop the data ingestion, integration, and distribution processes from various internal and external sources, streamlining the information for the use of the marketing teams.
– End-to-end project delivery including testing, validation, and the creation of written documentation including process flowcharts, marketing data catalog, clear code, and comments.
– Work closely with analysts to help them get the most out of the available data lake and enable the discovery of actionable insights that support decision-making.
– Effectively apply technology to surface insights automatically, optimize data delivery and simplify self-service analysis for the wider marketing business user group.
– Work with our enterprise analytics and data science teams to research, prototype, and implement new statistical methodologies that extend the portfolio of insights we can provide to the marketing teams.
– Assist in machine learning model development, evaluation, and deployment, in addition, to supporting segmentation, profiling, and attribute derivation. Leverage our cloud data infrastructure to build and integrate the models into real-time services that power the analytical and marketing execution processes.
– In collaboration with cross-functional experts across IT, CyberSecurity, and the Data Privacy Office, be responsible for understanding and adhering to the current privacy, security, and regulatory compliance as it pertains to customer data, contributing to keeping and improving governance best practices and standards. Maintain compliance with Emirates Group privacy principles and work with the Data Privacy Network Liaison within CCMB to ensure the privacy and security of personal data are considered by design and default in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications & Experience

– Experience in analyzing customer data for marketing purposes.
Knowledge/skills:
– Hands-on and deep experience working with Google Data Products (e.g. BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, AI Building Blocks, Cloud Data Fusion, Dataprep, etc.).
– Deep knowledge and experience with relational data systems and SQL and NoSQL modern data stores.
– Experience in Spark (Scala/Python/Java) and Kafka.
– Working knowledge of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large-scale, complex datasets.
– Demonstrated experience in applying data warehouse design, data quality principles, and agile processes.
– Experience with REST APIs and web services.
– Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, version control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and workstreams, with attention to detail and accuracy.
– Experience in pipelining, setting up, and deploying ML models into production (Continuous integration & continuous deployment)
– Not essential, but desirable: Familiar with Agile software development process & tools.
