Fairview Hotels are seeking an experienced Hotel General Manager to manage and operate this superb Norfolk hotel. Novotel Ipswich is situated just next to Ipswich football stadium and only 20 minutes from from the coast at Felixstowe .
Over the last few years the hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment, including all 101 bedrooms, reception bar and lounge.
Duties include/Key areas of responsibilities:
Oversee the operations functions of the hotel.
Hold regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments.
Ensure full compliance to Hotel operating controls, policies, procedures and service standards.
Handling complaints, and oversee the service recovery procedures.
Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotels operation budget, marketing & sales plan.
Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded.
Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotels and management.
Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long term strategic goals for the property.
Developing improvement actions, carry out costs savings.
A strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies.
Closely monitor the hotels business reports on a daily basis.
Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General, on target and accurate.
Maximising room yield whilst liaising with the Director of Revenue and hotels revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programmes.
Prepare weekly financial reporting for the Group Operations Manager.
Draw up plans and budget for the owners when required.
Helping in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment’s and services.
Act as a final decision maker in recruiting key staff.
Coordination with HOD’s for the execution of all activities and functions.
Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads on a daily basis.
Manage and develop the Hotel Senior team to ensure career progression and development.
Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.
Lead all aspects of business planning.
Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
Responsible for legalisation, Health & Safety Act, Fire regulations and other legal requirements.
Complete all required health and safety/fire checks on time and be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health & Safety Act.
Be accountable for all relevant product delivery and stock management (mainly, laundry, cleaning materials and bedroom supplies), including setting stock levels, checking, counting, storage, reconciliation and loss investigation
To action any other reasonable requests made by management.

Relevant management experience in a hospitality environment
Relevant event management experience
Experience of working with profit and loss accounts
Experience of staff management including recruitment, appraisals, training and development
Intermediate IT skills in Excel and Word
Intermediate food hygiene qualification
Formal health & safety training to an intermediate standard i.e. “safety at work”
Proven track record of financial performance
Excellent written and financial communication skills
Ability to respond positively to a pressurized environment and adopt a positive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
Formal intermediate management qualification
Formal training to assist in delivery if staff training i.e. “Train the Trainer”
Experience in Sales and Marketing
